PIE IN THE SKY 2011: Buy a Pie, Feed a Family
PHILADELPHIA, PA – MANNA (Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance) announces Pie in the Sky 2011, the organization’s 15th annual holiday pie sale fundraiser, sponsored by US Airways. All proceeds received through Pie in the Sky 2011 help MANNA provide delicious, healthy, medically appropriate meals to someone in the greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey area who is coping with a life-threatening illness. As MANNA’s largest fundraiser of the year, the goal of Pie in the Sky is to raise $250,000 for MANNA’s nutrition and meal programs. Pie sales begin in October and the order deadline is Friday, November 18, 2011. Apple, Pumpkin or Pecan pies are available at $25, and a special MANNA-made signature pie (including a raffle-entry for a $1,000 U.S. Airways gift card) is $50.
Pies can be ordered at www.mannapa.org or at www.mannapies.org or by calling 215-496-2662. All pies are pre-paid when ordered and can be picked up at locations throughout Southeastern PA and Southwestern NJ, on either Tuesday, November 22, 2011 or Wednesday, November 23, 2011. The deadline for all orders is FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2011.

“My family has volunteered at MANNA for many years – both helping to prepare meals in the kitchen and by signing-up as Sellers for the bake sale, Pie in the Sky,” said Barbara Ilsen, Esq., MANNA Board Chair. “Anyone can create a Seller fundraising page to help sell pies and cakes – it only takes a few minutes to set-up, and will make a tremendous impact on MANNA’s fundraising so that they can deliver nourishment to more people in the greater Philadelphia region.”
Sellers are friends of MANNA who fundraise and help promote Pie in the Sky through personalized pages on our website, and through their social networks. From their personalized pages, Sellers can send e-cards as well as keep track of their individual sales and see their ranking against other Sellers which fuels a friendly competition amongst MANNA supporters! Sellers can team up to fundraise with friends or coworkers too. Past teams have included school groups, places of worship and businesses.
